Sales decline for Maruti in February
Maruti Udyog is the country’s largest automobile manufacturer. However, the month of February was not a good month for the company as sales dropped by 5.8 per cent. The company sold 41,095 units as compared to 43,603 units in same month last year.
However, considering the recent cuts in prices announced by the company, these sales should see a massive boost in the month of March. The domestic sales for the company were down by 8.1 per cent at 36,608 units versus 39,826 units in corresponding month last year.
Maruti has said in a statement that nothing went wrong and the customers were probably waiting for the budget to take benefit of the probable tax cuts, which have now become more clear. Their was good news for the company in the export sector where they saw sales grew by 18.8 per cent to 4,487 units as compared to last year’s 3,777 units.
Maruti 800 sales took a beating last month compared to last year. Though, the company has recovered a lot of sales through Maruti Alto.
