Suzuki opens up fourth car plant in India
Suzuki Motor has opened up its fourth auto plant in India. The company has also now completed a quarter century of operations for its Maruti subsidiary in India.
The company said that the state-of-the-art factory in a suburb of the Indian capital will make 100,000 cars a year. They aim to increase the production capacity to 300,000 within three years.
Suzuki is also planning to triple diesel engine production at the plant to 300,000 units by the end of the decade. Diesel cars are increasingly becoming popular in India and Maruti Suzuki wants a larger stake of this market.
The company made 630,000 vehicles under the Maruti Udyog brand last year and has sold record vehicles in the month of January. They are the majority stake holder in the Maruti Udyog which is the largest automaker in the country.
