Jeff Zucker is the new CEO of NBC Universal

NBC Universal has announced that they are naming Jeff Zucker as its new chief executive officer.

He would be taking over from Bob Wright who is stepping down from the company after leading it for nearly 20 years.

NBC Universal added that this appointment is effective immediately.

The company is a joint collaboration between GE and French company Vivendi Universal.

NBC Universal added that Wright would continue to serve GE as its vice chairman.
