Hitachi Data Systems planning to acquire Archivas

Hitachi Data Systems has confirmed that they are planning to acquire online storage management software vendor Archivas.

The aim is to strengthen the company’s content services business. This would help them expand their offerings for finance, health care and oil and gas industries as well as governments.

Archivas offers a product named Archivas Cluster (ArC) to companies. This product fulfils the requirement of the companies to store, archive, protect and access digital content such as e-mail, images and audio files.

This product has been designed to scale from a small repository to a huge archive containing hundreds of terabytes of data.

Archivas has been already providing the software component to power CAP’s Hitachi Content Archiver. The two companies have not revealed the financial aspect of their deal.
