Ford to rename Five Hundred mid-size sedan with Taurus brand name
US based automaker Ford Motor is likely to announce soon that they are renaming their Five Hundred mid-size sedan as the new Ford Taurus.
Incidentally, the company just recently ended production of the original Ford Taurus vehicle.
A company spokesperson declined to confirm this growing rumor in the market. Ford spokesman Jim Cain did admit that Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally has been a vocal advocate of the Taurus name.
He added: “Taurus is a wonderful brand that’s fondly remembered by a great many people and it’s been fantastic to see so many reminders of that on blogs and other web sites.”
Ford Taurus has been a massively successful vehicle for the company as they sold nearly 7 million Tauruses during the two decades it was in production.
Ford’s Five Hundred has failed to excite the customers in the US market as it has met with a cool reception.
