Tata Indica is cheaper now as well
India’s Union Budget for the year 2006-07 continues to bring in great news for the prospective buyers of automobiles in the country. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have both revealed the new dropped prices of their popular car models in the Indian market.
And now Tata Motors have done the same. The company has released the details on their proposed cuts on their popular Indica model for the domestic consumer followed by excise and duty reduction mentioned in the Indian Budget.
Tata Motors said it had cut prices of its Indica models by up to 23,558 rupees from Wednesday. This means that the prices of the diesel variant of the Indica hatchback have been cut by 17,880 rupees to 22,405 rupees. For the petrol version, the prices are down by 17,000 rupees to 23,558 rupees.
Interestingly, these price cuts come despite the fact that the cars do not meet the specification mentioned in the budget. The move is perhaps to counter the affect of price cuts in the competitive models available in the country namely Hyundai Santro and Suzuki Swift.
