BEA Systems acquires Fuego for US $87.5 million
BEA Systems has announced their decision to acquire business process management software maker Fuego. The deal is worth around US$87.5 million and it would be conducted through a cash transaction.
BEA has been on an acquisition spree and conducted over half a dozen acquisitions in 2005. They are still working hard on expanding its presence in the service-oriented architecture (SOA) software market and the latest deal with Fuego is part of that.
Alfred Chuang, BEA chief executive said in a statement on this latest deal: “The addition of Fuego to our AquaLogic portfolio means that we [can] … offer a unified SOA-based platform to integrate business processes, applications and legacy environments.”
With this deal, BEA is expected to use Fuego’s products as the foundation for its new AquaLogic Business Service Interaction product line. John Lauck, Fuego’s chief executive added: “Over the last two years, BPM has come of age. Companies, as part of their SOA strategy, are starting to do BPM on an enterprise scale.”
He further added: “We haven’t lost a deal in the past 12 months where we’ve been in direct competition.” He was referring to IBM and Tibco.
