LG Electronics to expand presence in Europe
South Korean tech giant LG Electronics has said that they aim to have a broader presence in the European markets. The company said that they have now set themselves an ambitious target of increasing cell phone shipments in Europe by 60 percent this year.
The company had shipped 8.7 million handsets in Europe in 2006. This year, the target is set at 14 million units.
LG is hoping that their recently launched Prada mobile handset would be successful in this market. In addition, the LG Shine model is also expected to do well. Shine is the successor of their hit Chocolate mobile phone.
The LG Prada mobile phone is somewhat similar to the Apple’s recently showcased iPhone product and has managed to impress the blogging community.
The company has also launched some new mobile phones in the market including the KU950, which combines WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access) 3G with DVBH (digital video broadcasting — handheld) digital television reception.
