Warner Music Group signs up 2 mobile content deals

Warner Music Group has announced that they are collaborating with two leading mobile operators. The company would be providing mobile music content to markets including Middle East, North Africa and Europe through these new deals.

The company has signed up these deals with Egypt’s Orascom Telecom and Norwegian telecom group Telenor.

The deal with Orascom Telecom would enable them to deliver its catalog of mobile products such as ringtones and full track downloads. These services would be made available in countries like Algeria, Bangladesh, Italy, Pakistan, Tunisia and Egypt.

The other deal with Telenor is to offer content via nine of Telenor’s 13 mobile operators in countries including Norway, Sweden, Ukraine and Hungary.

Warner interestingly already has deals signed up in regions like Japan, South Korea, Russia, China and Latin America.

Warner Chairman and CEO, Edgar Bronfman Jr, said in a statement on these new announcements: “(Orascom’s) scale, ambition and commitment to promoting legitimate, pan-regional mobile music services make them the ideal partner for us as we develop our presence in the Middle East and North Africa.”
