Hershey cutting 1500 jobs
Hershey Co. has announced that they are cutting 1,500 jobs over three years as part of a plan to scale back production lines.
The company is also planning to move some manufacturing to Mexico. After this restructuring, the company will make its chocolates and other candies at fewer facilities.
They would then also have a lower overall cost structure. However, around 80 percent of Hershey’s manufacturing will continue to take place in the U.S. and Canada.
The company currently employs more than 13,000 workers. This job cut means that they are getting rid of less than 11.5 percent of its work force.
Hershey’s Chief Operating Officer David J. West said in a statement: “The long-term benefits will include a significant, sustainable increase in investment behind Hershey’s iconic brands and new product innovation, as well as targeted, profitable international expansion.”

Milton Hershey is rolling over in his grave. He built the company in Hershey, PA. Then built a town around it to support it. He was a great American beneficiary providing all the services his workers needed and more. He lives on through his school for boys and many other charitable funds he created. To see his dream slowly moving out of Americia is despicable.

I agree.. Moving ops to Mexico is not the way to go… Hershey is as apple pie as America can get.. The bottom line is important, but to sell out Hershey to Mexico sickens me.. What’s next??????
