Hitachi could establish an auto parts unit in India
Japanese electronic major, Hitachi is rumored to be considering setting up an auto component manufacturing unit in the Indian market.
This could support their original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)—Isuzu Motor and Nissan Motor who are planning to establish their car manufacturing units in India.
Yasuhiro Suzuki, manager, Advanced Performance Material, Hitachi Chemical said in a statement: “We are assessing the vast potential of the Indian market. The Indian component industry is over Rs 50,000 crore. Since we supply high-end components to Nissan and Isuzu supply chains, we could import components from our Thailand or Singapore facilities before going for our own manufacturing in India.”
Suzuki added that India has a lot of potential considering it’s a low cost manufacturing country.
