Suzuki announces plan to enter World Rally Championship
Japanese auto giants Suzuki have announced that they are planning to enter the World Rally Championship. This decision comes after a successful stint in the Junior WRC. They would make an entry into the competitive WRC with a brand new SX4.
The company would enter this championship battle from August 2007 using its all-new Sports X-over vehicle SX4 as the basis. This model was showcased by the company at the Geneva Auto Show.
Suzuki was very successful in their Junior WRC experience. They managed to secure the top spot with their Suzuki Ignis Super 1600 in 2004, in only the third year of participation. Suzuki developed the Rally Sport version of SX4 alongside the models of SX4 that have been perfected for retail sale.
The current model of this car is equipped with a new 2.0-liter turbo charged J20 engine, which provides torque of 65kg.m at 3,000rpm and 320bhp at 4,000-5,000 rpm.
