Dell to experiment new ways to sell computers
Personal computer maker Dell has said that they are experimenting with new ways to sell computers. The company is struggling in the market against rivals like Hewlett Packard.
Dell recently lost their number one position in the PC retail market and is now trying hard to get back. The company said that they would do what it takes to reach consumers.
They did not particularly say whether they plan to open retail stores or sell products through third party retailers.
Dell spokesman Dwayne Cox added that the company remains committed to its 23-year policy of selling directly to customers.
Cox said: “What we’re really interested in is the most direct path to the customer and the relationship that develops by taking the most direct path. Clearly, we’re going to do the experimentation necessary to determine what that path is for customers in existing and emerging markets.”
Shaw Wu, an analyst at American Technology Research spoke in a note on Dell: “They have to either open their own stores or start working with the CompUSAs and the Circuit City’s of the world.”
