Virgin Media could drop BSkyB channels from its television network
Virgin Media has said in a statement that they could be forced to drop five of BSkyB’s basic channels as the talks between the two companies have failed to materialize.
This means that some of the popular shows like The Simpsons, 24 and Lost would not be accessible through their television services.
They are accusing the BSkyB for this mess. As per Virgin, Sky had demanded a 100 per cent rise in what it pays to air Sky One, Sky Two, Sky Three, Sky News and Sky Sports News.
Virgin said in a statement: “We now anticipate a withdrawal of these channels by Sky at the end of February.”
Sky responded by saying: “Our last offer remains on the table. Sky has negotiated with [Virgin Media] in good faith.” However, Virgin is still likely to carry Sky’s premium sports and movies channels.
