Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson trying to acquire Tandberg Television

Sweden’s Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson has confirmed that they have made an unsolicited offer to acquire Tandberg Television based in Norway.

The company added that they have offered to pay 9.8 billion Swedish kroner in cash for this deal.

This is a bigger bid compared to the one offered by Arris Group of Atlanta, Georgia.

Ericsson is trying to become a major player in the market offering IPTV (Internet Protocol television) equipment to cable and telecom companies. And this deal is expected to help them in this initiative.

Tandberg specializes in selling video encoding and compression equipment as well as products for delivering interactive and on-demand video to other companies.
