DaimlerChrysler might ask for a stake in GM in return for Chrysler

Media group Financial Times has reported in a news item that the DaimlerChrysler is considering taking a minor stake in General Motors as payment for their Chrysler division which they are looking to sell off.

The newspaper citied insider information for this all share option trade which is being considered by the US based automaker.

They are also considering the possibility of selling off Chrysler to private-equity or industry investors. Another option is the flotation of Chrysler.

The news report quoted an inside source as saying: “They are interested in who takes Chrysler over and they would be happy to take equity in GM in return.”

DaimlerChrysler has however declined to comment on this latest report in the media.
