Gary Crittenden is the new CFO of Citigroup
Citigroup, the largest banking group in the United States, has announced that they are appointing former American Express executive Gary Crittenden as its new Chief Financial Officer.
This is the latest new development in the company which is going through a series of management reshuffles geared to improve performance.
Crittenden is credited with helping American Express to rebound in the market after the financial mess created by the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. The financial company had suffered massively due to the Pentagon cut into travel spending.
Citi Chief Executive Chuck Prince added in a statement: “We’ve been very focused on turning around the U.S. consumer business for the last several years.”
Citigroup had earlier said in January that they were looking to replace Sallie Krawcheck as the company’s CFO. Krawcheck returned to her previous position in the company as the head of wealth management.
