Volkswagen recalling 790,000 vehicles in US market
German automaker Volkswagen has said that they are going to recall 790,000 vehicles in the USA through their Volkswagen of America subsidiary.
This recall is required due to problems related to the brake light switch.
The company added that the problem exists in several vehicles: 1999-2006 model years of the Golf and GTI, 2001-2005 Jettas, 2001-2007 New Beetles and the 2004 R32.
This is an extension of an earlier recall which involved some Jettas and New Beetles due to similar defects in them.
The company had informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the problematic brake light switches in the vehicles could malfunction due to improper installation.
VW in America had recalled 362,000 Jetta and New Beetle sedans because of similar problems with the brake lights.
