Motorola: Ed Zander was paid $13.2 million in compensation in 2006
Motorola had a struggling 2006 as they failed to launch new exciting products to stay popular after the hugely selling Razr range of mobile phones.
The company has now revealed in a proxy statement that they paid their Chief Executive Ed Zander received $13.2 million in compensation in 2006. He was paid $1.5 million in salary and $2.2 million in other compensation. In addition Zander received stock or option awards worth $9.5 million.
The world’s second largest mobile phone maker added that his compensation was based in part on its pay-for-performance program for all employees. It also depended on the company having exceeded certain business targets for the year.
Interestingly, his base salary remains the same since the day he was hired by the company in 2004.
Zander recently said in a statement that Motorola would now focus on making profitable phones rather than working on improving their market share in the mobile segment.
