Lenovo and Sanyo likely to share the cost of battery recall
PC manufacturer Lenovo recently announced another major recall of laptop batteries. This time involving Sanyo manufactured batteries.
The two companies are now discussion how to pay for this recall which includes 200,000 laptop PC batteries. The two companies are likely to share the cost.
Akihiko Oiwa, a spokesman for Sanyo confirmed the talks in a statement: “We are discussing the recall with Lenovo right now.” A Lenovo spokesperson confirmed that the companies will share the cost but declined to disclose details of the plan.
The two companies have also not revealed how much this recall is likely to cost in total.
They however confirmed that this is totally unrelated to the Sony manufactured battery recall which affected a lot of players in the market. Dell and Apple ended up recalling millions of batteries worldwide.
