Maruti to launch SX4 sedan in India
Maruti has already stopped the production of their Baleno sedan in the Indian market. That leaves the market leader with just the Esteem as their sedan offering.
However, sources have said that the company is now working on launching the SX4 sedan in India later this year.
This would be a brand new car for the Indian market just like the Swift was launched 2 years ago. Analysts say that this launch could be the company’s biggest and best hope of breaking into the three-box segment.
The SX4 sedan from Suzuki is based on a totally new platform and is sold in the markets around the world as a hatchback model.
It is unlikely that the company would use the Baleno name for this new car considering the failure of the older model to excite the Indian customer.
The new car based on the SX4 platform is likely to be launched with an all-new 1.6-litre petrol engine and possibly with the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel that powers the Swift diesel in India.
Experts believe that Maruti could price this new car in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh.
