Lloyds TSB Group latest to close customer care centers in India

Britain’s largest provider of consumer loans - Lloyds TSB Group has announced that they are closing all their customer support operations based in India.

They took this decision after receiving protests from unions and complaints from its customers in the UK.

The company said that all customer care calls would now be handled by its domestic call centers. The workers at their Mumbai office would only handle the back office works.

This new development is likely to affect as many as 600 workers in India working at their setups. Lloyds TSB Group Union added in a statement: “The Mumbai call center has been a disaster for the bank because of customer dissatisfaction.”

They had originally setup their office in Mumbai in 2004. They had opened this call center after closing down a UK site that led to loss of close to 1,000 jobs.
