Old Pakistan International Airlines planes banned in European Union

Pakistan International Airlines has a huge problem in its hard as the European Union has disallowed them to fly their older planes in their territory.

PIA can only fly its Boeing 777 planes into the European Union due to safety concerns. This was confirmed by the European Commission which said that the PIA cannot use their aging Boeing 747, Airbus 310 and other aircraft on the European routes.

PIA spokesman Nasir Jamal claimed that this restriction is temporary and they would be allowed back in EU after upgrades in their fleet. He said: “These two types of aircraft may resume their flights once necessary refurbishment and cabin up-keeping is completed in a given time frame that is as soon as possible.”

Another PIA official added: “I would say we will have to cut at least 15% to 20% of our European operations.”
