Paul Mercer now working at Palm
Smart-phone maker Palm has hired Paul Mercer who was one of the engineers who worked on the Apple iPod project at the famed Mac maker.
He would be working on Palm’s future products as the company aims to take on the new generation of products from rivals including Motorola and Apple itself.
Paul Mercer was one of the individuals who helped create the original iPod operating system for Apple. He joined Palm last month and this has been confirmed by Palm now.
He joined the company along with two of his employees from his current venture Iventor.
Palm manufactures the Treo range of smartphones and has been facing intense competition from other players in the market including Research in Motion, Nokia and Motorola. Apple is joining the fray with their iPhone product which is scheduled for launch in June this year.
