Massachusetts Institute of Technology to offer free online courses
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has said that they would soon become the sole U.S. University to offer almost all of their courses for free online.
Anne Margulies, head of online curriculum said in a statement on this new initiative: “We started this project because MIT believes that one of the best ways to advance education around the world is through the Internet”.
However, the university clarified that the students of their online courses would not be able to earn an MIT degree or have contact with faculty at the university.
The MIT had originally started the “OpenCourseWare” program in 2003.
