Microprocessor giants Intel cuts revenue forecast
Intel Corp is the market leaders in the manufacturing of PC microprocessors. However, the company is increasing coming under serious competition from smaller rivals AMD who are gaining in the server and gaming market.
Intel as a result is finding it hard to maintain their growth and have cut its revenue forecast on Friday amid weaker-than-expected demand. Intel’s shares are also showing the effects of this increasing competition faced by the company as they have fallen down by as much as 3 percent to a 17-month low.
Market experts believe that this is just the beginning of hard times for the company as AMD is getting more and more support from the tech companies based in the United States. Google for example has just started to shift their internal servers to AMD based processors and Dell is rumored to be considering starting selling AMD powered machines.
Intel is also facing an anti-trust lawsuit from AMD who claims that the microprocessor giants are conducting unfair business practices by pressurizing PC manufacturers to not ship computers with AMD processors.
