Lavazza acquires Barista Coffee Company

Italy’s largest coffee company Lavazza is reported to have acquired the Indian coffee chain Barista. The company has been reported to have picked up 100% stake in two coffee businesses of Chennai-based Sterling Infotech Group.

The deal signed with the company includes takeover of coffee chain Barista Coffee Company as well as coffee vending business Fresh & Honest.

Sterling Group officials have yet not confirmed this deal. The market has been full of rumors about talks going on between these two companies for such a deal.

Lavazza too has been quoted by media sources saying that they wanted to get an entry into the Indian market and acquisition was one of the ways of doing that.
