Ford Motor to pay bonus to workers in U.S. and Canada
US based automaker Ford Motor might be making record losses but they have still said that they plan to pay modest bonuses to every U.S. and Canadian employee.
This would be a step to boost the morale of the workers as the company has been laying off thousands of workers to cut costs.
Mulally said in an email to the workers: “These awards underscore the importance of working together as a unified team.” He clarified that due to massive losses they have been posting these bonuses would be pretty modest.
He did not reveal the figures but a company spokesperson said that unionized workers will receive about $500.
Ford has been working on plans to cut costs by closing down nine plants by 2008. They also cut around 14,000 salaried jobs last year.
