Reports: Starbucks could open 40,000 new stores
Expansion newspaper has said in a report that the US based coffee shop giant Starbucks is planning to open up around 40,000 more stores over the medium term.
Half of these stores could be opened in their international markets around the world. Starbucks Chief Executive Jim Donald mentioned in a statement that they are currently expanding at a rate of six shops and 350 new employees per day.
He was quoted as saying: “We will open at least 40,000 cafes (half of them outside the United States)”. He further said that they are planning to open between 10 and 12 shops per year in Spain.
Starbucks already is operating around 13,000 shops, 9,000 of them in the United States. They have a presence in 39 nations around the world and have an estimated worker base of 130,000 people.
