Hyundai Motor to setup an engine manufacturing plant in USA

South Korean tech giant Hyundai Motors has said that they are planning to invest 270 million to build an engine plant in the USA.

This plant could be constructed near their car making unit in Alabama as they aim to meet the growing demand in this market.

This new engine plant is expected to create as many as 520 jobs. Hyundai said that they expect to start production by September 2008.

This plant would be supplying engines to their Alabama plant and a Georgia plant being built by its affiliate, KIA Motors Corp.

The company added that they are also working on plans to begin mass production of fuel-efficient environmentally friendly hybrid cars from 2009. They are already testing Accent and Pride sedans with hybrid technology.
