Siemens and Nokia to work on Wi-Fi-GSM mobile phone networks

German tech giant Siemens is going to work with mobile phone maker Nokia. The two companies would work on enhancing the handover of voice calls between corporate wireless LANs and public mobile phone networks.

We already have mobile phones capable of supporting both the GSM and Wi-Fi technology for making calls. Users can make calls through VoIP using the corporate wireless LAN when in the office and make calls using the GSM wireless network when he is on the move.

Nokia and Siemens would work to certify the compatibility of that software in some of their mobility products for enterprise users.

Some of the products offered by these two companies include the Nokia’s E-series mobile phones for business customers and Siemens’ MobileConnect, a fixed-mobile convergence server compatible with its HiPath 8000 SoftSwitch for enterprises or competing products.
