Tata Motors to deliver the Rs. 1 Lakh car in three years

The dream project of Tata group chairperson Ratan Tata is expected to be out within the next three years as per a statement released by the company. Ratan Tata had talked about a cheap Rs. 1 Lakh car a couple of years ago and the company is now working on it in full flow.

The Indian automaker has said that they expect to be ready to launch their Rs. 1 lakh car in just around 3 years. Other automakers in the country have showed their skepticism about such a project with respect to the safety of the vehicle and the passengers. Through, Tata believes that this model would be perfect for people wanting to upgrade from two wheelers.

Tata Motors has said that their product would be slightly bigger than Maruti 800 and would meet all the safety standards required here. Required here is the keyword considering Indian safety standards related to automobiles are nowhere near the standards mandatory in developed nations.

Ratan Tata said about this long delay in the launch of the Rs. 1 lakh car: “once all these things (concept of structure, material and powertrain — the building blocks) are in place, it will take toolings and a manufacturing plant, and so on. Usually, it is a three-year period.”
