Walt Disney launches Disney Artist retail stores in India
Walt Disney has launched their first merchandise store in India. These stores are named Disney Artist and they would sell branded kids products.
The entertainment industry giant has collaborated with master franchising group, Devyani International Ltd for this venture.
The company plans to invest as much as Rs 150 crore for setting up 300 such Disney Stores in the next five years across the country. 22 of these stores are likely to be operational within the current year.
Ravi Jaipuria, chairman of RJ Corp spoke on this venture: “In a tie-up with the Walt Disney Company India Private Limited (TWDCI), we are investing Rs150 crore by setting up 300 exclusive kids stores in the next five years. We will open 22 ‘Disney Artist’ stores in 2007 with an investment of Rs 10 crore.”
Jaipuria added: “For the moment, the products will be imported. But once we open the first 100 outlets, we would start manufacturing units in India itself.”
