Nokia files complaints against Qualcomm
World’s leading mobile phone maker Nokia has said that they have filed complaints against telecom company Qualcomm Inc in Germany and the Netherlands.
Nokia said that their complaints request declarations that Qualcomm’s European patents are exhausted in respect of products sold in the European Union.
If the mobile phone maker succeeds in this effort, it would make it impossible for Qualcomm to enforce its owned patents in relation to Nokia handsets which comes powered by Texas Instrument processors.
Qualcomm is the company behind the CDMA technology and they make bulk of their revenues from collecting licensing fees from Nokia and other mobile phone makers.
Incidentally, Nokia and Qualcomm are already involved in several lawsuits related to patent disputes.
