Acer expects their notebook sales increasing by 30-40 percent

Taiwan based personal computer maker Acer has said that they expect their notebook sales to jump by 30-40 percent in the current quarter compared to last year.

A company representative said: “The Company is operating efficiently and effectively to boost sales in its major markets, including Europe, the US the greater China. A 30-40 percent increase in the first quarter from a year earlier has been anticipated. We are trying hard to market Acer branded notebook computers, in particular attempting to push up the weightings of the US and greater China markets.”

Acer last year sold 2.85 million notebook computers in the first quarter. The year 2006 saw them selling as many as 9.90 million units.

Most of their sales still come from the European market which accounts for around half of their total sales. US is the second largest market with China contributing some 10 percent of the sales.
