Government bans new flights between Delhi, Mumbai during peak hours
The Indian government has all the wrong ways to find solutions to the problems. They have announced their decision to freeze the number of flights that can be operated by domestic airlines from Delhi and Mumbai airports during peak hours.
This ban would last for the next couple of months as they aim to control the growing congestion on these airports.
However, they have yet not specified what constitutes peak hours for these airports. Generally speaking the peak hours at airports are considered from 7 to 10 a.m. and from 6 to 10 p.m.
Government approves the flight plans of the airline companies two times a year. These are done once in March for the summer schedules, and in October for the winter one.
The announcement from the government said that the two airports cannot at the moment handle more than 30 flights an hour until proper infrastructure is created.
It is not exactly clear on how they plan to improve the infrastructure on the airports during the time the ban is implemented.
