IBM India now has more than 50000 workers
US based tech giant IBM has confirmed that they now have a worker base of more than 50,000 employees in India. The company has managed to double the headcount in India in the last two years.
A company representative said in a release: “IBM has more than doubled the number of people it employs in India over the past two years to over 50,000. This means that one in six of IBM’s workers is now based in India.”
IBM has also just recently said that they aim to invest as much as six billion dollars in India by 2009. This would further expand their workforce in the Indian market.
The company said: “We have invested $ 2 billion (in the last three years). We will spend $ 6 billion by 2009.”
IBM India Research Laboratory added in a statement that the company typically spends $ 5-6 billion dollar a year in R&D.
