Alcatel-Lucent to supply Verizon Wireless with network equipment, software and services
Network solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent has confirmed that they have won a three-year contract worth $6 billion with Verizon Wireless.
They would be providing the mobile service provider with network equipment, software and services. The deal announcement lifted the shares of the company.
Alcatel-Lucent said in a statement that they would help Verizon to boost the coverage and capacity of its broadband network based on CDMA2000 technology.
Prudential Equity Group analyst Inder Singh spoke on this newly announced deal between the two companies: “While not wholly unexpected, it is encouraging that Verizon is extending its strong Lucent ties to the merged company. We believe this announcement also reflects a resumption of more normal business at Alcatel-Lucent –and more importantly the re-filling of the order pipeline, after several months of disruption from the ongoing merger integration.”
