Nanjing Auto launches MG series in China
China’s Nanjing Automobile Group has finally launched cars under the Britain’s MG brand in the Chinese market. The company rolled out the first models off the line at its new multi-million dollar plant.
Huang Ting, a marketing official for Nanjing said in a statement on this new development: “Today we have started production of the MG7 series and the MGTF sports car.”
The company had acquired the MG Rover’s assembly lines, engine technology in addition to rights to some of their popular models including the MGZR, MGZS and MGZT. They had paid 53 million pounds for these rights.
Nanjing added that their revamped MG series will compete directly with models from Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
