Best Buy acquires Speakeasy
Retailing giant Best Buy has confirmed that they are acquiring Speakeasy. They would be paying $97 million for this broadband voice, data, and IT service provider.
The company aims to expand their service offerings for their small business customers. Best Buy added in a statement that they would now be adding Speakeasy to its Best Buy For Business unit.
Darren Jackson, Best Buy executive vice president and chief financial officer added that this would enable them to provide one-stop shopping so entrepreneurs and small business customers are not forced to juggle multiple service providers.
Speakeasy already operates in most U.S. metropolitan areas and has as many as 40,000 customers. Best Buy said that they plan to retain the Speakeasy’s executive team.
