LG mobile phones to feature Google software
The competition between Google and Yahoo! to get preloaded on mobile phones is getting bigger and bigger. The latest deal has been announced by the South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics.
LG has said that they would now launch at least 10 cell phones this year with preinstalled software and services from Google. They are the world’s fifth largest maker of mobile phones.
With this, Google would have their software preinstalled on millions of phones which would be shipped worldwide in the coming months.
The software suite would include mobile versions of Google Maps, Gmail for mobile, and Blogger Mobile.
LG said that they aim to launch the first phones featuring the software by the second quarter of the year. These would be sold in North America, Europe and Asia.
Interestingly, LG already has a deal with Yahoo to load Yahoo services, including Yahoo Go for Mobile 2.0, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger on their mobile phones.
