Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing to supply WiMAX processors to Intel
Microprocessor industry giant Intel has confirmed that they would be purchasing wireless and WiMAX-related chips from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.
TSMC happens to be the world’s largest contract chip maker and Intel is of course the industry leaders. The company usually manufactures their own chips but they do sometimes outsource the production of chipsets and other types of chips.
WiMAX is increasingly becoming popular worldwide for enhanced wireless connectivity and Intel has decided to outsource production of processors to meet the growing demand.
Intel has been one of the biggest promoters of the WiMAX technology as they aim to showcase it as the speedier replacement for the Wi-Fi technology popular today.
