Ericsson looking at acquisitions for growth

Mobile networks giant Ericsson has said in a statement that they are looking at potential acquisition deals to expand in the market.

Company CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg said in a statement that he was upbeat about prospects for multimedia, which offers services such as television. However, the company expects to remain a major player in the network equipment industry.

He added: “There will be more acquisitions on the multimedia side. We do not need to take a breath just because we have made several acquisitions.”

The company recently acquired Norwegian digital broadcast systems maker Tandberg Television and IP messaging components company Mobeon as they expanded their multimedia offerings.

They are aiming to catch-up with the rival Alcatel-Lucent in this particular industry.
