Tata and Fiat partnership begin showing results
Italian automaker Fiat has had a troubled time dealing in the Indian market. The company has now collaborated with the Indian automaker Tata and the collaboration is finally showing some results.
Tata Motors said in a statement that they are looking towards expanding capacity and would take a decision in the coming months. Rajiv Dube, senior vice-president, manufacturing & commercial, passenger cars business unit was speaking with the media people at the launch of the first co-branded Tata-Fiat dealership in the Indian market.
He said that this expansion could be either be Greenfield or brownfield in nature. The company currently has the capacity to manufacture 2,25,000 cars and 90,000 utility-vehicles-and-pickups per annum.
Tata Motors and Fiat are now looking at possibilities at sharing technical knowledge in the development of newer products. The deal on co-branded dealerships between the two companies would see 25 of Tata Motors’ and three of Fiat’s existing dealers would sell and service Tata Motors and Fiat cars.
