Jagran Prakashan and Yahoo to launch a Hindi portal
Internet giants Yahoo aims to strengthen their position in the Indian market by launching a Hindi portal in collaboration with local player Jagran Prakashan.
The two companies announced their plans to launch a new current affairs web portal in Hindi. This portal would be launched in the second half of the year.
A company statement said that the portal (http://jagran.com) would integrate content from Jagran with Yahoo’s Indian presence and would offer online services and print media content for users and advertisers
The two companies would be sharing the online advertising revenues with Yahoo! taking care of managing the network. Jagran Prakashan CEO Sanjay Gupta spoke on this initiative: “We will bring in content while Yahoo brings in technology and their understanding of Internet audiences to provide an unparalleled Internet experience in the Hindi space.”
They would also work together on distributing Yahoo India’s search and small and medium business offerings in the country.
