Nissan Motor recalling 1.01 million cars in Japan for repairs
Japanese automaker Nissan Motors has announced a major recall of their cars in the domestic market. The company is recalling 1.01 million cars in Japan for repairs to defective fuel tanks.
The company said that the problem exists with fuel tanks that may crack or leak in March and Cube compact cars.
Nissan is expected to spend around $25.5 million on these repairs. They are not the only car maker in the Japanese market to face such recalling problems. Honda just recently announced a similar recall.
The company said that the affected models include cars built between December 1991 and August 2000. Nissan confirmed that they have not received any injury or accident report related to these safety issues in their cars.
Incidentally, this is the second largest single recall from the company. They had earlier in October 2003 recalled around 1.03 million vehicles in Japan.
