Tata Motors and Fiat’s new plant at Ranjangaon
Tata Motors and Fiat Group have announced that they would be investing close to Rs 4,000 crore in their new automobile plant in Ranjangaon.
This new unit is also likely to create as many as 24,000 jobs. The factory establishment was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Fiat Auto Vice-President Stefan Ketter spoke at the occasion: “This factory, a 50:50 joint venture between Tata and Fiat, would create 4,000 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs.”
The two companies added that this new unit would have the capacity to produce one lakh cars and two lakh engines per year.
Fiat would be manufacturing their international models at this new factory in the near future. Tata Motors Managing Director Ravi Kant added: “Tata Motors is in talks with Fiat for collaboration in Latin America and talks are on with IVECO.”
