Citibank launches mobile banking application Citi Mobile
Retail banking arm of Citigroup, Citibank has launched a mobile banking service which can be accessed by a customer by downloading an application on their mobile devices.
This service has been named Citi Mobile and it is for the time being available to their customers in Southern California. The bank said that they plan to expand this service availability to the entire country by the end of the year.
With this, Citi has joined some other banks in the country which are already offering similar mobile banking facilities.
Citigroup chief executive, Charles Prince spoke on this new initiative: “The phone could be the key payment vehicle. Putting the whole branch on the phone is a big step.”
The service is being made available for free to the customers though they might end up paying some charges for use of their mobile internet.
