Grande Punto and Linea from Fiat in India next year
Fiat and Tata Motors are working hard on their collaboration and have started a new manufacturing plant in South India. Fiat could not look forward to launching some new exciting models in the Indian market.
First of the lot are expected to be the hatchback Grande Punto and the sedan Fiat Linea. These models could be launched as early as next year.
Fiat’s new plant developed in collaboration with Tata is located in Ranjangaon plant near Pune. This plant has a manufacturing capacity of one lakh cars and two lakh engines every year. It would be used to develop products for both the Indian and the international market.
Fiat’s Grande Punto when launched would compete heads on with Maruti Swift, the Indica, the Indica Xeta, the Getz Prime, the Aveo UV-A.
The Fiat Linea would take on the Tata Indigo, the Maruti Esteem, Mahindra-Renault Logan, the Chevrolet Aveo and the Hyundai Accent.
