InterContinental signs 6 management contracts across India

IHG, the world’s largest hospitality hotel group by number of rooms, today announced the signing of six additional management contracts in India. The company announced the signing of major management contracts for InterContinental Pune and Holiday Inn Hinjewadi Pune in Western India; Holiday Inn Ernakulam Kochi and Crowne Plaza Cochin, the Crowne Plaza New Delhi in North India and another Crowne Plaza in Southern India. This follows IHG’s signing last year with Today Hotels to manage the Crowne Plaza Gurgaon, scheduled to open in June this year.

The signing of these management contracts confirms IHG’s reputation as the partner of choice for leading developers and further supports its commitment to India. Separately, IHG has announced the establishment of its new headquarters for South West Asia in Gurgaon, the rapidly developing business and residential district of Delhi.

InterContinental Pune, to be developed with the Poonawalla Group, will be located in the central business district of Pune, a vibrant and rapidly growing cosmopolitan city which is two hours drive from Mumbai. The 200-room hotel will offer the city’s largest ballroom with capacity to hold 500 people. The hotel will have a full range of business services, and comprehensive dining and recreation facilities, including two specialty restaurants, an all day dining restaurant, a lively evening entertainment venue and a signature spa.

Crowne Plaza Cochin, to be developed with KGA Group, is the brand’s first project in South India. The hotel will have 220 rooms and more than 1,500 square metres of dedicated meeting space. Together with the soon-to-open Crowne Plaza Gurgaon, these four new hotels will bring a new standard of hospitality to some of India’s fastest growing business and technology districts.

The 250-room Holiday Inn Hinjewadi Pune developed with Vascon Engineers, will be located at Hinjewadi, a rapidly developing commercial area focussed on biotech parks, IT and telecom industries and several technology campuses. The hotel will be 20 minutes from the city centre and 30 minutes from Pune International Airport. Holiday Inn Ernakulam Kochi to be developed with Indroyal Group, will be a uniquely designed property along the endless backwaters, offering 253 contemporary guest rooms and 1200 square metres of meeting space. The hotel’s proximity to Kochi’s financial and business districts will allow it to target business travellers and small meetings groups. Leisure travellers and local residents will also appreciate the hotel’s contemporary style and range of dining and recreational options.
